
Starshaped Press is a letterpress shop in Chicago, IL. All work is produced using antique metal and wood type. This means that all designs are set by the pressman and custom designs/plates are not accepted. The result is a collection of quite nice and simple printed works.

Kala Art Institue is an international workshop in Berkeley, CA. The studio facilities include a printshop which facilitates a variety of traditional and new print processes, as well as a digital media center and an exhibition gallery. Kala offers residency opportunities, various calls for entries and a great “artist-in-schools” program.

Palindrome is a small letterpress shop in Portland, OR producing both contract/client work and their own line of letterpress goods available in their Etsy shop.

Atlanta Printmakers Studio in Atlanta, GA exists to provide studio space and equipment for artist-renters and offers community outreach through classes, workshops and exhibitions in order to enhance the understanding of and appreciation for printmaking.

Located in Mancelona, MI, Deep Wood Press is a publisher of limited edition, hand-bound, fine press books. Additionally, the Deep Wood facility provides print services in letterpress and intaglio, as well as fine hand-binding. In their own words: “we can die cut, perforate, blind stamp, deboss, emboss, foil stamp and print onto most any material.”

Flying Horse Editions is the fine arts press at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. The studio is a non-profit publisher of museum-quality, limited-edition art books and prints by internationally renowned artists and authors. The studio provides artists with a range of resources from letterpress to laser-cutting.

Erika Ebert Press is a pretty compact letterpress shop in Philadelphia, PA taking on some of the basics like invites, announcements and business cards, as well as her own sets of standard designs for customers to choose from. You can see more recent samples on Erika’s Flickr page.

Box Car Press is a highly sophisticated 21st century letterpress shop in Syracuse, NY. In addition to some of the tightest registration, Box Car has a deep interest in supporting the development of individuals and shops using letterpress. They offer starter packs, pressroom supplies, platemaking supplies, custom letterpress plates, platemakers and the Box Car Base (one of their own creations).

The Common Press is the letterpress printing studio at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia PA. The facility provides a mixed media environment where students can move between digital and manual image making, collaborating with writers, printmakers and others in the book arts. The Common Press exists to assist in teaching design and to facilitate collaborative projects across the university.
